Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program was designed by the Producers and Organizers SIG to meet the needs of individuals wanting to learn how to produce a storytelling event. There are four levels to the mentoring program, and you may choose one or all of the levels.
1. Purchase "The Producers Guide."
The Producers Guide includes articles by 21 storytelling event organizers. It is available through the National Storytelling Network, 132 Boone St., Jonesborough TN 37659, or call 1-800-525-4514. Include your check for $15 if you are a member of the National Storytelling Network, or $25.00 if you are not.
2. Attend workshops, conferences and/or retreats.
The Producers and Organizers SIG offers the following throughout the year:
- A Pre-Conference Workshop during the annual National Storytelling Conference each July.
- An annual retreat in January to discuss national issues.
- Working retreats in various locations throughout the country throughout the year
3. Work with an Experienced Producer
Communicate with an experienced organizer for a limited time (no more than 4 hours a month for 2 months). Organizers willing to donate their time are listed on the Mentors list. Please choose one and contact them directly. If they are already working with someone, you will need to make a second choice.
4. Hire a Consultant
The terms of the consulting will be negotiated between you and the consultant. The consultant is an independent contractor. Organizers working as Consultants are listed on the Consultants list. Please choose one and contact them directly.
